Quick commerce and food delivery app for a Pune retail chain

A Pune operator of 15+ local supermarkets and multi-brand cloud kitchens was struggling with manual inventory sync, slow deliveries and cart abandonment. Brandzivio built a customer app, dark store software, a rider app and an admin ERP on one platform, in 6 weeks.

The challenge

The client ran 15+ local grocery supermarkets and multi-brand cloud kitchens. Their older ordering system relied on manual inventory sync, deliveries were taking 60+ minutes, and many customers abandoned their carts before checking out.

To grow, they wanted a 15-minute quick commerce grocery service and a live food delivery workflow on one unified platform. The hardest parts were stopping real-time dark store inventory mismatch and assigning riders automatically, so that picking-to-dispatch time stayed under 2 minutes.

What we built

Brandzivio developed an end-to-end ecosystem covering quick commerce, grocery delivery and multi-vendor food delivery. It was built as four real-time modules, starting with a customer mobile app that combines a fast 15-minute grocery checkout with a live restaurant food ordering flow.

The second module is custom dark store management software with barcode-based rack and bin picking, real-time SKU stock locking and automated replenishment alerts. The third is a dedicated delivery rider app with Google Maps shortest-route navigation, intelligent order batching and a live COD and payout ledger.

The fourth module is a multi-warehouse admin ERP that controls thousands of SKUs and surge pricing together. A PostGIS and Redis geo-spatial engine connects each customer's pin-drop location to the nearest dark store or kitchen within 3 km.

  • Unified grocery and food delivery app interface with a 15-minute SLA timer and live kitchen tracking
  • Dark store management software with bin-level barcode scanning, a picker-packer app workflow and real-time inventory synchronisation
  • Delivery rider app with auto-order assignment, polygon geofencing, turn-by-turn GPS route optimisation and a rider shift and earning ledger
  • Multi-vendor catalogue and bulk inventory engine handling 20,000+ grocery SKUs, scheduled slot delivery and flash deals
  • PostGIS and Redis radius matching that connects a customer's pin-drop to the nearest dark store or kitchen within 3 km in 45ms
  • Real-time WebSocket order tracking showing confirmation, dark store packing and the rider's live map location without a page refresh
  • Dynamic surge pricing, rain-mode fee automation, multi-cart checkout and UPI One-Tap payment integration
  • Admin and store manager analytics dashboard tracking store-wise picking speed, rider fleet utilisation and daily GMV and AOV

Technology: React Native, Next.js, Node.js (NestJS), PostgreSQL (PostGIS), Redis, Socket.io, MySQL, Google Maps Routes & Places API, Razorpay, Firebase (FCM).

What changed

  • Order packing and dispatch time fell from 7.5 minutes to 1.8 minutes (108 seconds) with the barcode bin-picking flow in the dark store software.
  • Average hyperlocal delivery time fell from 54 minutes to 14.2 minutes with intelligent route batching in the delivery rider app.
  • In the first 60 days after launch, the platform completed 42,000+ grocery and food orders with no stock-out mismatch.
  • The client recorded a 41% growth in its repeat customer order rate.
“Brandzivio team ne hamare offline supermarkets aur kitchens ko ek poore Quick Commerce engine mein badal diya. Pehle humein stock mismatch aur rider coordination mein bahut dikkat aati thi, lekin inke Dark Store Management Software aur Delivery Rider App ke baad hum Blinkit, Zepto aur Swiggy-Zomato ki tarah 15 minute mein grocery aur food deliver kar rahe hain.”

Frequently asked questions

How long did this quick commerce and food delivery project take?

The project took 6 weeks. In that time Brandzivio built the customer mobile app, the dark store management software, the delivery rider app and the multi-warehouse admin ERP as four connected real-time modules on one platform.

Which technologies were used to build the platform?

The stack includes React Native, Next.js, Node.js (NestJS), PostgreSQL with PostGIS, Redis, Socket.io and MySQL. Google Maps Routes & Places API handles routing, Razorpay handles payments, and Firebase (FCM) is used for notifications.

How does the app find the nearest dark store or kitchen?

A PostGIS and Redis geo-spatial radius matching engine takes the customer's pin-drop location and connects them to the nearest dark store or kitchen within 3 km. The client's facts record this match taking 45ms.

Can one platform handle both grocery and food delivery?

Yes. In this project the customer app combines a 15-minute grocery checkout with a live restaurant food ordering flow. The same platform also includes dark store software, a rider app and an admin ERP covering 20,000+ grocery SKUs.
