Teen Patti Game Development Company: What You Can Build

By the Brandzivio team · Published 17 October 2026 · Updated 17 October 2026

This page is for game startups, card-game studios, entertainment brands and overseas buyers who are looking for a Teen Patti game development company and want to know what can legally be built in India today. By the end you should be able to decide which model to plan, what features and technology to ask for, how a readymade script compares with a custom build, and what a realistic budget and timeline look like.

It is not for anyone planning cash deposits, cash-out or money-value prizes for Indian players. The legal position below was checked on 17 October 2026 and can change, so confirm it with a qualified Indian lawyer and the official MeitY notifications before you commit to a plan.

Can you still build a Teen Patti game in India?

Short answer: real-money Teen Patti is covered by the ban, while a free-to-play social Teen Patti, where players use virtual chips that have no cash value and no way out of the game, is the model that can still be built. Everything else on this page assumes that second model.

Teen Patti is a three-card game usually played by 2 to 6 people. Each player puts in a boot amount to start the pot, then plays blind (without looking at the cards) or seen (after looking). Betting continues round by round until players pack, or the last two remaining players ask for a show and the better hand wins. Popular variants include Joker, Muflis (lowest hand wins), AK47 and Pot Blind, and a good build keeps the rules engine flexible enough to add them later.

Once you have chosen your model and checked it with your lawyer, talk to us at /contact and we can discuss scope. Nothing here is legal advice.

What the Online Gaming Act, 2025 means for Teen Patti

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 separates games into two groups that matter for a Teen Patti build. The summary below follows PRS India and Mondaq, because we could not read the Act text itself in our tools.

  • An online money game is one played by paying money or other stakes in expectation of winning, whether the outcome depends on skill, chance or both. Coins, credits or tokens that can be converted into money count as stakes (PRS India, 2025).
  • An online social game is played solely for recreation, entertainment or skill development. It may charge a subscription or access fee, but no stakes and no monetary gain (PRS India, 2025).
  • Penalties summarised by PRS: offering an online money game, up to 3 years and Rs 1 crore; advertising one, up to 2 years and Rs 50 lakh; facilitating financial transactions for one, up to 3 years and Rs 1 crore.
  • The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 were notified on 22 April 2026 and took effect on 1 May 2026. Online social games need no registration unless the Central Government specifies otherwise (Mondaq, 2026).
  • The final Rules weigh whether in-game assets can be moved, cashed out or monetised outside the game, so that question decides which side of the line a chip economy falls on.
  • Checked on 17 October 2026. Details can change; always check MeitY and the Gazette notifications for the current text.

Free-to-play vs real-money Teen Patti: what changes in the build

The table pairs the same feature across both models. The real-money column is shown only so you can see what is removed; it is prohibited for India-facing products and Brandzivio does not offer it.

The practical rule is that chips can be earned or bought for use inside the game, but must never be redeemable, transferable between users or sellable. Any route to cash can turn a social game into a money game. Tournaments with non-cash rewards such as badges, cosmetics and ranks are a different thing from anything of monetary value; ask a lawyer where exactly the line sits for your design. Overseas licensed markets are a separate legal question for the client and are not covered here.

Must-have and nice-to-have features of a Teen Patti app

A useful feature list starts with the game itself, then accounts and safety, then the admin tools your team needs to run it. We deliberately leave out wallet withdrawals and cash deposits.

  • Core play: private tables with friends, a public lobby, boot-and-blind betting rounds with virtual chips, packed, blind, seen and show logic, side show, turn timers and reconnect handling when a phone drops off the network.
  • Hand-ranking engine: trail, pure sequence, sequence, colour, pair and high card, tested against many edge cases such as ties and A-2-3 sequences.
  • Accounts and safety: phone OTP login, profiles, game history, report and block, an age notice and limits on chat.
  • Platform features in our gaming service: game lobby and user accounts, leaderboards and non-cash rewards, an admin panel with reporting, and anti-fraud and audit logs.
  • Nice-to-have: Joker, Muflis and AK47 variants, Hindi and regional languages, daily bonus chips, friends and clubs, push notifications and a localised interface.

How a fair multiplayer Teen Patti engine works

Fairness starts with a server-authoritative game server. The server shuffles and deals, validates every action and holds the hidden hands. The phone app never receives an opponent's cards and never decides chip counts; it only sends requests such as bet, pack or show and displays what the server confirms.

For the shuffle, use a cryptographically secure random source with a Fisher-Yates shuffle, not a basic pseudo-random generator, and log hands and actions so a disputed game can be audited. Vendors often cite the NIST SP 800-22 test suite for randomness; treat that as a vendor claim to verify, not a guarantee. Independent RNG certification from labs such as iTech Labs, eCOGRA or GLI is mainly demanded for money games in licensed markets. For free-to-play it is optional but a trust signal, so ask any vendor to show the lab report for the exact build you will receive.

For the real-time layer, WebSockets with Redis for live table state and PostgreSQL for records is a common pattern, and it matches the Node.js, WebSockets, React, Redis and PostgreSQL stack listed for our gaming service. Unity with Photon (managed) or Nakama (self-hosted) is another common pattern, with the trade-off being less server work to run against more control and portability.

Collusion and bots are handled with signals such as same-IP seating rules, unusual win patterns and rate limits. No system makes cheating impossible, so plan for monitoring and a reporting flow after launch.

Readymade Teen Patti script or custom development?

Many buyers ask whether Teen Patti source code (a readymade script) is better than custom development. It depends on the stage you are at.

Scripts carry risks. Their origin may be unknown, the game logic may run on the client where it can be tampered with, the licence to host and modify may be unclear, and old real-money wallet code must be stripped out for an India-facing product. If a vendor claims full source code ownership, verify it in the contract; that is advice for you as the buyer. A script can still be fine for a quick prototype or a test market where you accept those limits.

Readymade source code or white-label vs custom build

Teen Patti game development cost and timeline in India

Brandzivio's indicative range for gaming website development is Rs 2,00,000 - Rs 12,00,000 with a timeline of 6 - 16 weeks. This is indicative, not a quote, and a Teen Patti game would be scoped within that service.

Published market ranges are vendor estimates and they differ. Auxano Global Services (July 2025) estimates USD 15,000-20,000 for a feature-rich Teen Patti game. Other vendor search snippets quote about USD 8,000 for a practice app up to USD 100,000+ for multi-variant platforms, mostly written for real-money builds. These are marketing figures, not quotes, and Brandzivio's own range above is separate from them.

Ranges are wide because cost depends on Android, iOS and web coverage, the number of variants, bots, tournaments, admin tools, languages, 2D versus 3D art and live-ops. Running costs come on top: cloud hosting, SMS and OTP, monitoring, app store fees and updates.

The real-money cost tiers no longer apply to India-facing products, because wallet, KYC and payment modules are not needed for a free-to-play game.

Checklist before you hire a Teen Patti development company

Use these points as buyer advice with any vendor, including us. We do not rank or recommend other companies.

  • Get a written revenue model and a lawyer's view on it before development starts.
  • Confirm there is no cash in or out and no convertible assets anywhere in the design.
  • Agree in writing who owns the source code and the art.
  • Ask where the app is hosted and where player data is stored, and how personal data is handled under the DPDP Act.
  • Check app store policies for card and social casino games, and add age gating.
  • Ask for a playable demo, who holds the hidden hands, how shuffling is done, what logs exist, how disputes are handled and what support follows launch.
  • Red flags: 'guaranteed earnings', 'legal in all states', no mention of the 2025 Act, scripts of unknown origin and pressure to add a cash wallet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Teen Patti banned in India?

Real-money Teen Patti is covered by the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which treats online money games as prohibited whether they involve skill, chance or both. A free-to-play social version with no stakes is a different category. This is not legal advice; checked on 17 October 2026.

Can I still build a free-to-play Teen Patti app in India?

Yes, an online social game played only for recreation, with no stakes and no monetary gain, can still be built, and Mondaq reports no registration is required unless the Centre specifies otherwise. Chips must never be redeemable or sellable. Confirm your exact design with a qualified lawyer.

How much does it cost to develop a Teen Patti game?

Brandzivio's indicative range for gaming website development is Rs 2,00,000 - Rs 12,00,000, not a quote. Published vendor estimates differ, such as USD 15,000-20,000 from Auxano in 2025. Cost depends on platforms, variants, bots, tournaments, admin tools, art and live-ops.

How long does it take to develop a Teen Patti game?

Brandzivio's indicative timeline for gaming website development is 6 - 16 weeks. The actual time depends on whether you need Android, iOS and web, how many variants you want, the amount of art, and the admin tools and testing required before launch.

Which technology is used to build a multiplayer Teen Patti game?

A common stack is a server-authoritative game server on Node.js, WebSockets for real-time play, Redis for table state and PostgreSQL for records, with React or mobile clients. Some teams use Unity with Photon or Nakama for the client and room layer.

How do Teen Patti games keep card shuffling fair?

The server shuffles using a cryptographically secure random source and a Fisher-Yates shuffle, deals the cards and keeps hands hidden from clients. Hands and actions are logged for audit. Independent RNG lab reports are optional for free-to-play, so ask a vendor to show one for your build.
